However, its effects are only particularly serious if, for example, mucous membranes come into continuous contact with PVC or if the components are absorbed through the respiratory tract.
PVC consists of 40 to 45% crude oil. The rest is made up of plasticizers, stabilizers and other chemicals. The phthalate DEHP used in the past, which is now classified as a reproductive hazard, has now been completely replaced by the more harmless substances DINP and DIDP.
